Money seems to make the world go around. People who don’t have it, want it; those who have it, want more. Jesus told a story about a rich man who was a fool. He had everything, but wasn’t “rich toward God.”
Jesus tells this story dealing with greed. He warns us that life does not consist of accumulating possessions for our own pleasure. His short story is about a man who thought he had everything going for him. He was doing so well, he could retire early and take it easy. What he ignored was that he was not “rich” toward God. That very night he died! Everything he had worked for was left to others.
Jesus tells us that this is what happens to those who store up treasure for themselves, but are not rich toward God.
