If one doesn’t understand what happened at the cross, then they will not comprehend the meaning of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is in the resurrection that we see that Jesus defeated death. He paid the penalty for our sin and now provides us with his righteousness. It is precisely in the contrast between the cross and the resurrection that we find Easter’s significance. The cross was the darkest hour of human history. The resurrection – the brightest. The followers of Jesus mourned at his death; but at his resurrection they received a joy that no one can take away! This joy produces an eagerness to share the Good News of a living Savior with others!
