The Pharisee and the Tax Collector – Luke 18:9-14

Things are not always as they appear. In Luke 18, Jesus told the story of 2 very different men who went to pray. These two prayed 2 very different prayers and ended up with 2 very different outcomes.

Jesus spoke this parable to some who were confident in their own righteousness and looked down on everyone else.  If we are honest, we will admit that it is very easy to do just that.  When we do, we become Pharisees at heart!

As we look at the parable, we will see how Jesus surprises our expectations and teaches us to be humble and come to him for mercy.
