The setting for this parable is a dinner at the house of Simon, a Pharisee. A woman appears who is known throughout the town to be an immoral person. She sits at Jesus’ feet and washes his feet with her tears, anointing them with expensive perfume. Simon believes that Jesus must not be a prophet, or he would not allow her to touch him. In response Jesus tells Simon the parable of the two debtors. In this story, we learn about forgiveness, grace, and about what our response should be when we are forgiven.
