The death of Jesus Christ on the cross to pay the penalty for sin is a central theme in the Bible. Jesus suffered and died, bearing our punishment, so that we can be forgiven and can live forever in heaven. In the cross we see God’s love in not punishing us. In it we also see God’s wrath poured out against our sin. Even the apostle Paul wanted to boast about nothing except the cross of Jesus Christ.
