In this passage, John tells about Jesus who healed a nobleman’s son who was around twenty away. In this, Jesus showed himself to be the healer, the master over distance. This second miracle in Cana of Galilee points to the fact that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God. John wrote this so that those who read it would believe and have life in Jesus’ name.
The nobleman believed Jesus’ words that his son would live and returned home. Originally, he had wanted Jesus to come and heal his son. Yet, taking Jesus at his word, he returned home without Jesus. When he arrived home, finding his son healed, both he and his whole household believed on Jesus. Do you exercise that same faith and take God at His Word?
