Speaker: Pastor Brian Hill
Series: The Parables of Jesus
Description
The religious leaders of Jesus’ day did not approve of his associating with people that they considered to be “sinners.” They criticized him. In Luke 15, Jesus responded by telling them three parables (or one parable with three stories). All three of these stories deal with something that was lost and then found. The three stories together answer the Pharisees’ criticism and reveal God’s heart for those who are far from him.
First, Jesus tells them about a man who had a hundred sheep and lost one. Next, he tells them about a woman who had 10 coins and lost one. In each story, the one who lost something, searched for it and found it, then rejoiced!
This message deals with the first 2 stories in Luke 15, next week’s message will be part 2 and will look at the third and longest parable – the lost son.
