Description

We live in the information age, however, people still fall into the same pitfalls in life into which countless others have fallen.  What is the problem?  The problem is that though information is available, true knowledge and wisdom are at (perhaps) an all-time low.  In the book of Proverbs, Solomon describes the purpose of his book – to gain wisdom and instruction and to understand words of insight.  Wisdom is needed by everyone, especially those who are young and/or naive.  While these are natural states, as one grows up, the hope is that the individual will gain wisdom remedying his or her naivete.

For those who are already wise, the book provides even more wisdom and understanding to comprehend proverbs, riddles and the words of the wise.  The bottom line of his book is that the “fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge.”  Apart from a correct view of God, no one has true knowledge.  They may be smart in certain areas, but when it comes to determining right from wrong, they fall short.  True wisdom comes from God.

Through this series, we are going to see that wisdom comes from God.  We will also see that by following God’s wisdom, we can avoid the common pitfalls of life.
