Although Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead, the results regarding belief were divided. Martha and Mary believed and so did some of the Jews. Others, however, refused to believe the evidence that was before their eyes. These went and reported to the religious leaders who decided that they wanted to take the life of Jesus. Despite all the evidence, the religious leaders also refused to believe. Jesus responded by going to a remote village because his time had not yet come for the crucifixion.
Jesus showed his compassion and love by weeping for Lazarus. In contrast to the others, Jesus had the power to raise Lazarus from the dead.
