Description

False teachers are everywhere. Jude warns the followers of Jesus of the danger of following false teaching. In this passage, Jude describes the false teachers and the writes about their impending judgment.

Jude gives a warning to the believers that false teachers are in their midst.  These false teachers have disguised their true intentions and presented themselves as teachers of truth.  Jude says that the apostates are ungodly people who are seeking to pervert the grace of God into a license for immorality.  They actually deny Jesus Christ.  Jude gives three illustrations from the past to warn the believers of God’s judgment on those who do not believe and obey the truth.

While God delivered Israel out of Egypt, he did bring judgment on those who did not believe. The Old Testament is filled with many illustrations of this.  God brought judgment on angels who did not keep their positions as assigned by Him. These are reserved in everlasting chains of darkness while awaiting judgment.  God brought judgment on Sodom and Gomorrah for their sexual immorality.

We can conclude that while God is gracious He is also just to bring condemnation on the wicked.
